About Gerber Plotters

Gerber plotters are no longer made. The Plotter Doctor sells refurbished Gerber cutters and provides a 1-year parts and labor warranty. The GS and HS series cutters are tractor-feed (sprocket feed) plotters with tangential cutting heads.

Why buy a Gerber cutter?
Gerber GS and HS series plotters are ideal for cutting sandblast stencil because they are sprocket-fed AND use precision, motor-driven tangential cutting heads. Tangential cutting means that a motor controls the rotation of the blade - as opposed to a drag-knife/swivel-blade that freely rotates. With thicker material, such as sandblast stencil, the tangential knife will more accurately cut corners and follow curves.

Tractor-feed means that the rubber is locked into sprockets on each side of the stencil - so the rubber cannot drift or skew the cut - which allows for accurate borders and designs over a large area

What's the difference between Gerber GS, HS, and Plus and non-Plus models?
Plus vs no-Plus models - The Gerber GS and HS Plus series allows the tangential blade tool to be swapped out for a swivel-blade tool. For cutting sandblast stencil, you will never need to use a swivel blade tool - so either a Plus or no-Plus Gerber plotter will work exactly the same for cutting rubber sandblast mask stencil material.

Gerber GS vs Gerber HS series
HS series cutters can cut up to three times faster than the GS series - but this is not an advantage when cutting monument stencil. The HS will need to be set to operate at a slower setting in order to cut sandblast material. Either model will be ideal for cutting rubber sandblast mask.
